Biography

Aruuke Uran Kyzy is a researcher and journalist based in Istanbul, Russia and Bishkek. She works as an assistant researcher at the Oxus Society for Central Asian Affairs. She is also a contributing analyst for The DiplomatTRT World, IslamologyAnadolu Agency, and Politics Today. Aruuke holds a graduate degree from the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg, Russia. Her area of focus is the securitization of Muslims in Russia, authoritarian governance in Central Asia, migration, and politics in Kyrgyzstan.

Aruuke is is an author of a number of opinion pieces, feature articles, and policy briefs. Her work comprises minority groups across Eurasia, human rights abuses, and the historical formation of various ethnicities.
