Biography

Vadim Romashov’s research addresses complex relations of minority groups in multicultural settings. He is currently finalizing his doctoral research on everyday co-living of Armenians and Azerbaijanis in rural settlements of Georgia. Most recently, he has been a researcher for a project called “Naapurijurtta – Neighborhood Yurt” (funded by the Kone Foundation, 2017-2020) for which he has conducted an ethnographic study on the in/visibility of the Russian-speaking community living in a culturally diverse suburb of Tampere, Finland.

Since 2012, he has been affiliated with Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI), Tampere University, and has participated in TAPRI-led research projects, funded by the Academy of Finland and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, for which he has studied Russia’s policies towards post-Soviet conflict processes. Since 2016, he has contributed to different research-based peacebuilding projects focusing on conflict-affected areas of the former Soviet Union, particularly the South Caucasus. His recent publications have dealt mostly with the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and the conflict over Nagorny Karabakh.

He has lectured at Tampere University and University of Helsinki in Finland, Ilia State University in Georgia, Moldova State University, and the University of Minho in Portugal.

Vadim holds a degree of Master of Social Sciences in International Relations and diplomas of economist in World Economy (specialized in International Business) and of specialist in Regional Studies (specialized in Nordic Countries).
