Biography
Victoria Fedorova is a lawyer (LLM), an expert in the fields of human rights and international criminal law. Starting as a lawyer in the NGO “Legal Initiative” she was engaged in appealing human rights violations in courts and at the international level preparing appeals to the Human Rights Committee and to the UN Special Rapporteurs.
At Belarussian State University, she is engaged in research work on the prohibition of torture and ill-treatment.
Author of a number of reports to international human rights mechanisms as well as analytical reports with proposals for changes in legislation.
Areas of expertise: prohibition of torture and inhuman conditions of detention, right to peaceful assembly, penitentiary system, police reform, death penalty, human rights education.
Currently, Victoria is a Chair in the NGO “Legal Initiative” and cofounder of the International Committee for the Investigation of Torture in Belarus.
